COLUMBUS, Ohio - At least 2,355 people have died with confirmed or probable coronavirus, according to the Ohio Department of Health on Friday.

The state has at least 37,758 confirmed and probable cases.

On Thursday, Ohio had 36,792 coronavirus cases and 2,339 deaths. However, the increase doesn’t necessarily mean the cases and deaths happened in the last 24 hours. There is some lag time between when local entities notify the state.

Gov. Mike DeWine is updating the public on the state’s response at 2 p.m. Friday. He canceled Thursday’s briefing because it was around the time of George Floyd’s funeral in Minneapolis and asked the state to observe a moment of silence instead.

Joining him will be Dr. Amy Acton, director of the health department, and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted.
