COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State and Clemson will have two of the top five classes in the country by the time the Signing Day comes to a close on Dec. 18.

The Tigers sit at No. 1 with six five-star recruits while the Buckeyes are No. 4 with two. Both teams are off to a good start in 2021 as Ohio State’s second-ranked class features six players, four of whom are from Ohio. Clemson’s five-man class ranks sixth.

With both being National Championship contenders expect there to be plenty of highly-rated recruits to have both teams on their list during the next recruiting cycle.

Here is some of the 2021 recruits who have both the Buckeyes and the Tigers high on their list of schools so far:

Emeka Egbuka, Steilacoom (Wash.) High School

Egbuka is rated as the No. 9 overall player and the No. 1 athlete in the class. But he’s more than likely going to play wide receiver at Ohio State with Brian Hartline being his main recruiter. He’s made the trip to Columbus a few times including most recently for the Buckeyes’ 37-7 win over Wisconsin. Clemson and Ohio State will have to battle with Pac-12 schools such as Washington and Stanford. He included all four in his top 10 in October.

Will Shipley, Weddington (N.C.) High School

Shipley is another player who’s already experienced a gameday atmosphere at Ohio State as he was in attendance for Wisconsin. But he was more recently visited by offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson, who went to see the five-star running back at practice. He is rated as the No. 21 overall player and the No. 1 all-purpose back in the class.

Jager Burton, Frederick Douglass (Ky.) High School

Burton was among the many recruits to attend the Ohio State-Penn State game. The four-star recruit has made trips to Alabama, Clemson, Oregon and Penn State. Burton has already scheduled three official visits and plans to take all five before making a decision. He is rated as the No. 182 overall player and the No. 5 guard in the class.

Troy Stellato, Cardinal Gibbons (Fla.) High School

Stellato has made trips to Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State and though he isn’t rated as high as the other players on this list he’s trending upward. The three-star WR recruit has compiled 30 offers. He is rated as the No. 492 overall player and the No. 86 receiver in the class.
