The CSU basketball team picked up a commitment Saturday for a position of need from a recruit with an impressive resume.

Dischon Thomas verbally committed to the Rams, announcing his intention to play basketball at Colorado State University on Twitter.

He's a 6-foot-9, 190-pound power forward who attends Hillcrest Prep in Arizona.

He committed to powerhouse Nevada late in 2017. After the Wolf Pack's run to the Sweet 16 last year, coach Eric Musselman told Thomas and his family that Nevada attracted recruits they previously thought they couldn't reach, taking a slot away from Thomas, according to a story in the Reno Gazette-Journal. He officially de-committed in August.

The senior is averaging 15.4 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game for the Bruins, who are 31-4 and he's rated as a three-star recruit.

In addition to his one-time Nevada offer, he also had offers from UNLV, Saint Louis, UC Irvine, Cornell, Princeton, Kennesaw State, Northern Arizona and Cal State Northridge.

Thomas fits a big need for the Rams. CSU junior center Nico Carvacho leads the nation in rebounding, but the Rams have little size behind him and are ninth in the Mountain West in rebounding margin.

Thomas along with incoming 6-5 freshman David Roddy will add immediate rebounding ability to the frontcourt. The Rams have also signed 6-11 forward James Moors from New Zealand.
