FRIDAY

Funnyman Bill Bellamy appears at Chuckles in Cordova this weekend.

Stand-up comedy veteran Bill Bellamy returns to town for a run of shows at Chuckles Comedy House this weekend. Bellamy — who got his start on MTV, appeared on HBO's “Def Comedy Jam,” and hosted his own stand-up program “Who’s Got Jokes” — will play two shows on Friday and Saturday, at 7:30 and 10 p.m. He will close things out with a Sunday finale at 8 p.m. Tickets: $27.50 for general admission and $45 for VIP seating. To purchase go to Chucklescomedyhouse.com

Chuckles is located at 1770 Dexter Springs Loop Road in Cordova.

Throwback R&B big band The Love Light Orchestra will take the stage of The Green Room at Crosstown Arts for a concert Friday. The group — led by vocalist John Németh, featuring guitarist Joe Restivo, as well as one of the city’s most powerful horn sections — captures the 1950s and ’60s sound of Memphis artists like Bobby “Blue” Bland, B.B. King and Junior Parker. Doors are at 7 p.m. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10. Go to Crosstownarts.org

The Green Room is at Crosstown Arts, 1350 Concourse Ave., Suite 280

SATURDAY

It will be a dog day afternoon and then some when the Memphis Pink Palace Museum hosts its "Superpower Pup Pageant," a daylong celebration of man's (and woman's) best friend that will include much meet-and-greet paw-shaking, face-licking and tail-wagging on the museum's front lawn, plus demonstrations by law enforcement-trained canines, animal events hosted by the Lichterman Nature Center, and contests to identify the cutest, "muttiest" (most unidentifiable breed) and most hilarious "lookalike" (to their owner or to a celebrity) dogs.

1-3 p.m., Memphis Pink Palace Museum, 3050 Central. Visit memphismuseums.org.

Robbie Fulks and Linda Gail Lewis appear at The Green Room on Saturday.

Alt-country great Robbie Fulks and veteran roots rocker Linda Gail Lewis have teamed up for a new album, “Wild! Wild! Wild!” Like her older brother, Memphis music great Jerry Lee Lewis, Linda Gail Lewis remains one of the great singers of the genre, and the new disc, featuring songs penned by Fulks, finds the pair in fine form. They will be in Memphis to perform Saturday, with a show at The Green Room at Crosstown Arts. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Showtime is 9 p.m. Tickets are $20. Go to Crosstownarts.org

The Green Room is at Crosstown Arts, 1350 Concourse Ave., Suite 280.

SUNDAY

Phoebe Waller-Bridge stars in "Fleabag," the one-woman show that inspired her hit BBC/Amazon series. Filmed onstage in London, the show screens Sunday and Tuesday at the Paradiso.

Winner of Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, the BBC/Amazon series "Fleabag" may be the most acclaimed program on television. Now, you can see where all the sexual candor, awkward family dynamics and mental distress got their start, when the "National Theatre Live" cinema series presents Phoebe Waller-Bridge in "Fleabag," the one-woman show that inspired the television program. The show was filmed last month at Wyndham’s Theatre London in the West End.

1 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Paradiso. Tickets: $20. Visit malco.com.

Minglewood Hall hosts the annual “Sit With Us Awards" recognizing hometown heroes making a difference in the community. Piano-playing pop legend Elton John is retiring but has included Memphis on his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour. Also expect lots of panels, live music and the return of the Black Creators Forum.
