A thoughtful guitar-picking singer-songwriter who was signed to The Beatles' Apple Records label before he released his breakthrough single "Fire and Rain" on Warner Bros. Records in 1970, Taylor, 71, has become a beloved pop entertainer and reliable arena act. He last performed at FedExForum in 2017.

Browne, meanwhile, had his first Top 10 hit, "Doctor My Eyes," in 1972. Both men are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and both were included on Rolling Stone magazine's 2015 list of the "100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time," with Browne coming in at No. 37 and Taylor trailing at No. 69.

Browne was in Memphis last year for a March 28 date at the Orpheum. It is unknown whether he will perform some numbers with Taylor in addition to being the headliner's opening act.

Taylor's 2020 North American tour begins May 15 in New Orleans and is set to conclude July 10 in Camden, New Jersey. The tour is in support of Taylor's new album, "American Standards," which features Taylor's interpretations of 14, yup, American standards, including "Moon River," "Pennies from Heaven" and "Ol' Man River."
