The Central Station hotel is set to open this fall in Memphis' South Main District, according to a news release from Kemmons Wilson Companies and Henry Turley Company.

Part of Curio Collection by Hilton, the 123-room boutique hotel is located at 545 S. Main St. in the neighborhood's 105-year-old transportation hub.

The eight-floor hotel will feature event and retail space, a restaurant, fitness center and listening bar/lounge, which will include a collection of curated vinyl records.

The rooms will feature photographs from local artist Jamie Harmon.

Jeremy Sadler, general manager of The Central Station hotel, said the Henry Turley Company owns a block of South Main including the station, and Turley reached out to Kemmons Wilson Companies about transforming the site into a modern hotel.

Sadler said the companies partnered on the hotel, which is expected to open in September.

The goal of the hotel is to not attract just out-of-towners, but also Memphians.

"We really want to be a part of the community and kind of be the living room for South Main," Sadler said. "There's a lot of active programming that we hope to draw in a local crowd and really become a feature on the south side of Downtown."

McLean T. Wilson, grandson of Kemmons Wilson, is a principal of Kemmons Wilson Companies and president of Valor Hospitality Partners. He is also the owner and developer of The Central Station hotel.

Valor Hospitality will manage and operate the hotel.

Wilson said when people are in the hotel, he wants them to know they are in Memphis.

“The hotel will incorporate the property’s history through eclectic, art-focused design and decor, a world-class music experience and real, honest food," Wilson said in a news release. "We wanted to showcase quintessential Memphis, and as a result, we endeavored to ensure that guests staying at the hotel have no-doubt they're in Memphis, have no-doubt they're in South Main and have no-doubt they're at The Central Station.”
