What counts as tax-free?

Almost all clothing will be exempt from tax during the first weekend in August, with the exception of sports equipment.

Any qualifying item under $100 will be free of tax over the weekend; any single item over $100 will be taxed as usual.

Items like diapers, rubber pants, lunch boxes, and earmuffs will be free of tax during the weekend, with some price restrictions.

Accessories like jewelry and cosmetics will also be tax-free, but each item must be under $50 for tax exemption.

Items including helmets, yarn, roller skates, and ballet shoes are not eligible for the holiday weekend.

All qualifying school supplies will be tax exempt over the weekend, regardless of price.
