How you can attend the Memphis debate between Democrat Karl Dean and Republican Bill Lee

Tennessee's Democratic and Republican gubernatorial nominees are set to take part in the only general election debate this year in Memphis on Oct. 2.

The debate, between Democrat Karl Dean and Republican Bill Lee, is open to the public. Those wanting to attend must obtain a free ticket through the University of Memphis.

The debate, sponsored by the University of Memphis, The Commercial Appeal, WMC Action News 5, the League of Women Voters and the Economic Club of Memphis, will take place at the Michael D. Rose Theater Lecture Hall, University of Memphis, 470 University, Memphis, TN 38111.

To obtain a ticket, go to memphis.edu/tigertix

The debate will air on WMC at 6 p.m. CDT on Oct. 2 and live streamed on Commercialappeal.com and across the entire USA TODAY NETWORK - Tennessee. It will be rebroadcast on public television at 10:30 p.m. CDT.

Doors will close at 5:30 p.m. CDT ahead of the live broadcast.
