DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles has praised Cornwall for coming to the rescue after the team hit a stumbling block yesterday.

The BBC series, hosted by former I'm A Celebrity campmate Nick Knowles, has come to the county for the first time ever.

Over the past month the crew has been appealing for local tradespeople and suppliers who are willing to give up their time to help a family for the project in Carbis Bay, near St Ives.

But an urgent appeal yesterday showed more help was needed...

On his own Twitter account, the 56-year-old presenter said: "Is there a company in Cornwall [that] has a laser metal cutting machine that could do something for our @DIYSOS here. Reply here. Please RT."

Luckily the community came to the rescue and the message receive more than 300 retweets.

Knowles later tweeted: "We’ve found somewhere so thank you everyone in the area for all your help. Great community."

He also added: "Thanks - Laser Master have helped us out - what a community."

The star didn't stop there - and posted a special thank you to a restaurant that is assisting while the crew is in town.

He said: "Huge thanks to @UnaStIves who have allowed us to use their land to access our @DIYSOS. We couldn't have done it without that so thank you."

The original appeal for help, which revealed that the DIY SOS team was headed to the county, stated: "The team will be helping a local family to rebuild their home and lives.

"We are looking for tradespeople and suppliers who are willing to be part of the show by donating time and skills, supplies and materials.

"We offer lots of fun on site, lovely hot meals, the experience of a lifetime and the chance to turn a family's life around.

"To join the build you need to attend the trades day on January 24, so we can show you the build, so please email diysoscarbisbay@bbc.co.uk as soon as possible with your trade, availability and telephone contact details."

The build dates are scheduled for February 12 - 21.
