Traffic ground to a halt on the A390 at Trafalgar roundabout, Truro, at just after 3.30pm today after a Penair School student was hit by a car while riding his bike.

An ambulance arrived at the scene almost immediately and the pupil, believed to be a boy in Year 8 at the Truro secondary school, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

When asked if the boy had been hit by a car, a Penair teacher responded that there had been “an incident”.

Witnesses told Cornwall Live they saw the pupil cycling from Penair School at a considerable rate.
