Plans have been developed to provide a screen on Truro’s Lemon Quay to provide information and entertainment and encourage local residents, businesses and visitors to come into the city centre.

The project is being led by Hall For Cornwall, in partnership with Cornwall Council, Truro City Council, Truro BID and Kier.

As well as providing general public information on transport, severe weather conditions and local events and activities, the screen will also be used to keep residents and visitors up to speed on the Hall For Cornwall refurbishment project so they know what is happening and why.

It will also display information about the history and heritage of the HFC building and provide a focus on cultural projects being delivered in Truro and other areas of Cornwall while the actual building is being transformed. The partners will also be working with other creative organisations in Cornwall to provide content to be displayed on the screen.

The 5m x 3m screen will complement the colourful hoardings which will shortly enclose the works taking place on Lemon Quay.

The plan is to have the screen up and running before Christmas. The screen is also expected to carry some sponsorship and advertising, with this income being used to offset the cost of providing and maintaining the screen.

“We welcome the screen on Lemon Quay,” said Truro BID manager Alun Jones. “It will have a positive effect on Truro businesses and create more reasons for people to come to our great little city by publicising local events and activities.

“The varied content will provide an attraction for both residents and visitors to come together on Lemon Quay, during the day and into the evening, as well as offering local business opportunities to advertise.”
