Police have confirmed a body has been pulled from the water in Falmouth this afternoon.

Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police, coastguards, paramedics and the RNLI were called to the Prince of Wales Pier just before 3pm.

The emergency services responded to the incident following reports of a body being spotted in the water by members of the public.

It has been reported that the RNLI crew of the Falmouth inshore lifeboat has since recovered the body from the water.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson confirmed that enquiries were continuing into this matter.

Coastguard update

A spokesman from the Coastguard headquarters in Falmouth confirmed that a coastguard crew from Falmouth and an RNLI crew from Falmouth both attended the incident. They received a call from police for assistance after a body had been seen in the water. The RNLI recovered the body. Coastguard are continuing to liaise with police over the investigation.
