Two men remain in police custody 24 hours after an incident in the centre on Truro.

The pair were arrested after a fight broke out on Truro's high street on Sunday afternoon.

Police were called to reports of the men fighting near to the Co-op store, on the corner of Prince's Street at around 1.10pm.

Three police cars and one riot van were seen parked up outside the old BHS building.

Two men, both in their 40s, were detained by officers at the scene.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that glass had been smashed during the fight, but it was not clear if there were any injuries.

The reason for men were fighting is not yet known but a police spokesman has confirmed that a taser was not used by the police during the incident, despite reports of this at the time.

The men were taken into custody and a spokesman for the police has confirmed that that is where they remain as of Monday lunchtime.

Enquiries are ongoing.
