Talented Cornish singer Molly Hocking made it through to the The Voice semi-finals last night.

The 17-year-old, from St Ives, has stunned the judges since the very beginning of the show, with Olly Murs turning his chair within seconds of starting to sing during the blind auditions.

He was quickly followed by fellow judges Jennifer Hudson and Welsh legend  Sir Tom Jones, who both begged the Cornish sensation to join their team.

Ultimately, the teenage songbird chose to join team Olly, after he paid her the ultimate compliment, saying she "took his breath away".

Yesterday, she finally won a place in the semi-finals with a cover of Human by Christina Perri which left many viewers in tears.

Who is Molly?

17-year-old Molly is no stranger to the spotlight, having been acting since the tender age of five.

She's been a member of the Kids R Us youth theatre company since 2009 and has been singing since around 2012.

As well as being a finalist in the national Teen Star competition in 2014, Molly regularly performs weddings, functions, events and open mic nights across Cornwall.

She works in her mum's shop in St Ives.

In 2017 Molly reached the boot camp round of Simon Cowell's X Factor, also on ITV.

She has also had acting roles in television series Doc Martin, Delicious and Rosamunde Pilcher.

Speaking about her musical style, Molly says: "Vocally I am influenced by artists like - Etta James, Eva Cassidy, Pink, Paloma Faith and Whitney Houston to name a few.

"I enjoy putting my own stamp on their amazing songs, and my repertoire is broad, and whilst I love singing ballads, I also like jazz and more uptempo songs.

"The music scene here (in St Ives) is great and I get lots of opportunities to gig at festivals, open mic, folk and songwriter nights.

"Singing and acting are my passion and I would like to have a career in both."
