A man has been charged with a string of offences after a woman was robbed at knifepoint when she answered the door to her Penzance home.

Last week, police launched an appeal after the victim was forced to hand over her purse during the terrifying late-night incident.

Now, Devon and Cornwall Police have said that a man has been arrested and charged in connection with the robbery - as well as a number of other reported crimes in the town.

A police spokesperson said: "Mustapha Raihani, aged 41, of no fixed abode, London, has been charged with burglary, robbery, aggravated burglary and three counts of threatening a person with a blade.

"He appeared via video link at Truro Magistrates Court on Wednesday 21 August."

Raihani has now been remanded into custody, and will be brought before Truro Crown Court on September 24, for a plea hearing.
