A woman who was reported missing yesterday afternoon has been found safe and well, say police.

A large-scale search, which included the coastguard helicopter, was launched after a 44-year-old woman was reported missing at about 5pm.

Police said she was considered high risk.

Residents reported that the helicopter was flying over the area for about an hour.

An appeal issued yesterday evening said: "Devon and Cornwall Police are concerned for the welfare of a 44 year old female missing from the Truro area since about 1700hrs today, Wednesday 21August 2019.

"[She] is described as a white female, about 5’9” tall, of large build, with chin length black hair in a bob style, wearing a green and blue patterned dress, black cardigan and orange flip flops.

"If anybody sees her or has information as to her whereabouts, they are requested to call 101, or 999 in urgent circumstances, quoting log number 728 of 210819."

The appeal was later updated to say she had been found "safe and well".

A force spokesperson added: "Thank you for your help."
