At the very beginning of the Covid-19 crisis it was difficult to find anywhere to get a decent meal as everywhere locked down.

Fortunately more and more restaurants and takeaways have now found a way of providing food for ravenous families stuck at home.

Truro now has a fabulous selection to choose from - you could almost spend a month enjoying a different takeaway each night.

All of the below are practising social distancing so please ensure you abide by the guidelines if you are picking up your meal.

Let us know of any city centre eateries we may not have included.

Hubbox

The popular South West burger chain, which launched in St Ives, has announced a takeaway service but only at its Truro (and Bristol) restaurant.

It’s offering a limited (but delicious – we’ve tried it) menu, which can be ordered by phone on 01872 240700 and then picked up outside the premises on Kenwyn Street via social distancing.

Sam’s in The City

One of Cornwall’s favourite home-grown chain of restaurants is offering a takeaway service – Sam’s To Go Go every Friday and Saturday from the Truro premises between 4pm and 8pm.

This includes a burger menu, as well as frozen and cooked box meals. Please DM / TEXT order to book a slot on 07785 209985.

Chorley’s

The South African-themed restaurant in Old Bridge Street, which often tops the TripAdvisor list of places to dine in Cornwall, has been offering a takeaway service since May 8.

Offering burgers, ribs, chicken combos, curry and more, be sure to call 01872 857010 to place your order from 5pm.

Domino's

At one point the national pizza chain was about the only place to get a takeaway (especially a delivery) in the Truro area.

Use the app, website and phone in the usual way to order from the menu, which is smaller than usual for obvious reasons.

Nazim

The Indian takeaway in Calenick Street hit the headlines last month for donating hundreds of free meals to NHS workers every Wednesday during lockdown.

It is still offering a normal takeaway service and also does delivery. Find out more here.

Xen Noodle Bar

Opposite Nazim, is another business which has selflessly been delivering food to NHS and frontline workers.

The popular pub on Mitchell Hill is diversifying with landlord / chef Tom Hannon cooking takeaway meals. Friday is fish and chip night while Saturday is curry.

Trelander Fish and Chips

The chippy on the estate has been providing a fantastic service since lockdown began. Just phone through your order and turn up (while social distancing). We've done it and loved the fantastic feast and great service.
