If you’ve been watching season 2 of Mindhunter thinking, ‘Where do I recognise that Nancy from?’, then you’re not the only one. I was thinking that as well, so that’s at least two of us. You’re in good company in other words…
Anyway, instead of being blown away by the tiny stature of Charles Manson or even by Brian’s behaviour, I spent most of the series scratching my head; questioning where I recognised Bill Tench’s wife Nancy from. And then it hit me: she was in The Office!
Nancy is played by actress Stacey Roca, who also played Rachel in Ricky Gervais’ ground-breaking comedy series. Rachel is one of the Swindon lot from the second series. A slug, if you will (David Brent’s words, not mine…). She was seeing Tim for a while, but Gareth also had his eye on her.
Gareth says after discovering that she’s hot for Tim – a “weird little bloke with a cartoon face who looks like a Fisher Price Man” – that he’d still accept a hand job off her, so that’s sweet.
Tim eventually dumps her and she spends the rest of the episode crying, and telling Gareth to “f*ck off” when he, once again, tries it on with her. Fair.
Stacey’s character in Mindhunter has a hell of a lot on her plate in season 2 of the Netflix show. Nancy and Bill’s son Brian confesses to being with a group of older boys who kidnap and accidentally kill a toddler. Brian ends up convincing them to attach him to a cross in an apparent attempt to bring him back to life.
As well as starring in Mindhunter and The Office, Stacey has also been in Shameless, Waking The Dead and Holby City.
