St Harmon, near Rhayader, recorded the lowest temperature of Autumn 2018 so far in the UK on Monday night, the Met Office confirmed today.
The Radnorshire village saw temperatures plummet to -8C, which is the lowest ever recorded in Wales during October since 1997.
For 87 years Rhayader has claimed the record for the coldest October in Wales when temperatures fell to -9.4C in 1931.
But the bitter temperatures won't stick around for long, BBC weather presenter Derek Brockway says the coming nights will be less cold and it will get milder by Friday.
