THE future of two iconic Mid Wales hotels, including the Radnorshire Arms Hotel at Presteigne, remains in limbo.

Local AM and Welsh minister Kirsty Williams on Wednesday posted an update following a response from the deputy minister for culture, sport and tourism, over the Welsh government funding for renovations of both hotels to the former owner before the properties were closed and put into administratoon

“During my visit to Knighton and Presteigne last week it was clear that the issues surrounding the Radnorshire Arms and Knighton Hotel continue to have a negative impact on both towns,” said Ms Williams.

“Recently I raised this matter again with the Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism and today I have received the following response:

"Thank you for your email “about progress with regard to the funding released to the Knighton Hotel and Radnorshire Arms under the Tourism Investment Support Scheme.

Contact has been made with, and is ongoing with the administrators regarding The Radnorshire. As previously advised, my officials met with (the former owners) Mr and Mrs Williams and have since requested further information. That dialogue regarding The Knighton “has come to a close and we are considering the options open to Welsh Ministers.

“I will be happy to update you once further action has taken its course,” the reply said.

Ms Williams added: “These buildings are iconic in their towns and I will of course continue to monitor this situation.”

Both hotels remaijn on the market for sale.
