TREWERN United took the points following a seven goal thriller at home to Llanfyllin Town in Honda Division One of the J T Hughes Montgomeryshire League.

Goals from Callum Higgins, Sam Jones and Rhys Evans were not enough for the visiting Magpies as Trewern edged victory with goals from Joe Beddoes, Sam Griffiths and Chris Lewis and a spectacular overhead kick from Stuart Buckley-Robbins.

However the match ended prematurely with Trewern player Shaun Roberts sustaining a broken leg and snapped ankle ligaments with 12 minutes remaining.

The match could yet be replayed with the final decision to be made by the Montgomeryshire League committee later in the month.

Rich Lewis netted twice as an improving Llangedwyn prevailed 3-1 winners at home to Llanfair United Reserves with Josh Evans also on target to cancel Ashley Davies’ reply.

Meanwhile title chasing Guilsfield Reserves made light work of Meifod with Owen Rothwell, Mark Davies, Danny Barton, Jon Gamble, Dan Williams and an own goal settling a 6-0 win at the Kings Head with Barton also seeing a penalty saved.

Elsewhere Trefonen went top of Mitsubishi Division Two with an 8-0 drubbing of bottom of the table Kerry Reserves.

Jordan Dean and Andy Garmston each completed hat-tricks with Louis Morris and Joe Kilvert strikes completing the rout for the Pitmen.

Huw France starred with a hat-trick as Llanrhaeadr Reserves made light work of Waterloo Rovers Reserves to maintain their own push for promotion with an emphatic 7-1 win at Tanllan.

James Watkin, Mike Roberts, Lewis Jones and Harri Matthews goals completed the drubbing while the Welshpool side replied with a consolation from Jake Mantell.
