State police are asking for the public’s help as they try to find out how two people on CTfastrak property in Hartford ended up being shot over the weekend.

Troopers from the Troop H barracks in Hartford responded to reports of an assault in the area of Francis Avenue and Park Street in the city Sunday evening, near the CTfastrak busway, state police said. Two people were taken to Hartford Hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds, they said.

The extent of their injuries wasn’t clear Monday morning.

“We have no information beyond that there was an altercation around the Parkville Station,” said Cole Pouliot, general manager for CT transit. “The state police are handling the investigation.”

Detectives from the state police Central District Major Crime Squad are investigating. Anyone with information that may help them is asked to call Troop H at 860-534-1000.
