Police release name of woman who died in Hartford crash

Police have released the name of the woman who died after a two-car crash in Hartford over the weekend. The people in the other car fled the scene, they said.

Dahaiza Stewart, 21, of Hartford was rushed to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center after the crash in the area of 1921 Main St. Sunday, police said. She was later pronounced dead.

Stewart was one of three people in a Kia Sorrento SUV who were taken to area hospitals after the collision, which happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. Police said the car had “substantial damage.”

The other car, an Infiniti G35, also was damaged. Its occupants were able to get out of the crashed car and run from the scene, police said.

Neither car was stolen, police said.
