Hartford police said they arrested a city man on gun charges after finding him with a stolen pistol near the scene of a triple shooting.

Dure Dancy, 24, of Gray Street was charged Tuesday with carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a pistol/revolver, weapons in vehicles and theft of a firearm, police said. He was not arrested in connection with the shooting, and police on Thursday said they have no evidence to suggest he was involved.

According to police, officers responding to the shooting scene near Brook and Fairmount streets noticed a man who made them suspicious sitting nearby in a parked car. They walked up to the car and saw a handgun inside.

The gun was registered to someone in North Carolina, police said.

Dancy was listed in state records as being in custody on $200,000 bail Thursday at Hartford Correctional Center.

Three men were wounded in the shooting but survived. Police described them as conscious and alert at the scene.

Police tracked a car they suspected was linked to the shooting to East Hartford. Detectives talked to a person of interest, but no arrests have been made, Lt. Paul Cicero said Thursday afternoon.
