MGM Resorts International is enticing Connecticut gamblers to check out its new $960 million Springfield casino with weekday, round-trip buses from cities and towns across the state.

A round-trip fare is $20. Riders who are 21 or older will receive a $20 gaming voucher and $10 in free food at the casino’s food hall-style market.

The buses leave from Middletown, New Britain, Farmington, West Hartford, Hartford, East Hartford, Glastonbury, Windsor Locks and Enfield. The timing of the departures vary, but some locations have both morning and afternoon runs.

MGM Springfield is also running buses to points across Massachusetts and in New Hampshire.

Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, Connecticut’s two tribal casinos, have long offered discount buses as a way to bring more gamblers to their complexes in southeastern Connecticut.

Connecticut’s casinos have been fiercely competing for revenue with MGM Springfield, which opened in late August. The tribal authority that operates Mohegan Sun reported a decrease in profit Thursday for the quarter that ended Sept. 30, attributed at least in part to the new Springfield casino.

Some gamblers from Connecticut bound for Springfield have been taking the new Hartford Line commuter train, which has stops throughout Connecticut along the I-91 corridor. The Springfield train station is about a 15-minute walk from the casino, and the city also has free bus service that connects the two points and makes other stops in downtown Springfield as well.

More information about the bus service is available online at mgmspringfield.com/en/casino/bus.html or by calling MGM Springfield Bus Marketing at 844-841-6467.

MGM has also contracted with the transportation company King Ward to provide door-to-door service to the Springfield casino seven days a week from certain points in Massachusetts and Connecticut. For information and reservations call 413-593-3939.
