The Target store planned for West Hartford’s Bishops Corner is slated to open in August and has begun hiring in anticipation.
The small-format Target store will take the space of the former Walmart on North Main Street. The store announced this week that it will hold its grand opening on Aug. 18.
But before the store can open, it has a lot of hiring to do. Store leaders have planned two upcoming job fairs to jumpstart the hiring of nearly 100 team members, the company said in a release.
According to Target’s website, the West Hartford location is seeking cashiers, security specialists, food and beverage experts, tech consultants and more.
“At Target, we value the people who help us serve the local community, and we look forward to growing our team while providing them meaningful opportunities to build and develop skills for their careers,” said West Hartford store director Sarah Woodcock.
The Bishops Corner location will be a “small-format” store. The company said in a release that it has been opening stores like this nationwide in neighborhoods where a regular Target store couldn’t fit, such as near college campuses and in urban areas.
Because of its smaller size, the West Hartford Target will feature a smaller selection of goods, including electronics, health and beauty products, clothing and grocery items. The store will also feature online pickup services, the company said.
Team leaders at the West Hartford Target will hold two jobs fairs at the Hilton Garden Inn at 555 Corporate Dr., Windsor, from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and Monday. Job applications can be found at target.com/careers.
