A Hartford man already on the sex offender registry for possession of child pornography was sentenced Friday to five years in prison for illegal sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl.

Abisai Rodriguez, 31, pleaded guilty previously to grabbing the girl’s hand and forcing her to touch his penis, prosecutor Debra Collins said.

He pleaded guilty to risk of injury to a minor by way of sexual contact and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, suspended after he serves five years, and 10 years of probation. He must also continue to register as a sex offender.

Rodriguez was friends with the girl’s parents and had ready access to her. The case for which he pleaded guilty occurred in West Hartford.

Collins told Hartford Superior Court Judge Laura F. Baldini that although Rodriguez was on the sex offender registry for his prior crime, he worked for the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters and did door-to-to door outreach. State Department of Labor records revealed that Rodriguez also worked for an inflatable amusement company.

Collins requested that he be closely monitored when he is back on probation.
