Antoinette “Annette” (Pignone) Grottole, 98, of Rocky Hill and formerly East Hartford, beloved wife for 62 years of the late John Grottole, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 14, 2019. Born in Apace, Italy on January 19, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Gennaro and Speranza Pignone. Annette graduated from Hartford Public High School, class of 1939 and worked for many years in the Town Clerk’s office in East Hartford. She was a member of the St. Patrick-St. Anthony choir for more than 50 years. Annette loved tending to her rose garden and spending time with her parakeet. She will be forever missed by her sister, Ann DiNardo of Windsor and many dear nieces and nephews and their families. Annette is predeceased by her sister Grace Amodeo, brothers, Anthony Pignone and Michael Pignone, nieces Elizabeth Amodeo and Patricia Cartelli. Annette’s family would like to thank the staff at The Atrium of Rocky Hill for their compassionate care over the years.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (February 20) at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St., Hartford. Everyone is asked to please meet directly at the church. Entombment will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4- 6 p.m. at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford.
