Lidiya Gordina, 94 of West Hartford CT, beloved wife of late Leib Gordin, to whom she was married for 42 years, died peacefully at The Reservoir. Lidiya was born on October 17, 1924, in Stalingrad, Russia. She was the oldest of six children. She was a World War II survivor, mainly surviving the Battle of Stalingrad. After, World War II, she spent most of her life in Riga, Latvia and immigrated to the USA in 1991 for religious freedom. She was proud to become a US citizen and thankful for the opportunity this country gave to her and her family. Lidiya loved to cook, sew and take care of her family and friends. Everyone who met her had the chance to see the caring, kind, warm-hearted person she was. She was loved by many people that will miss her dearly. Lidiya was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Paula Polotovsky and her husband Joseph; daughter Raisa Virkerman and her husband Val; and son Boris Gordin and his wife Diana; along with five loving grandchildren, Galina, Boris, Zhanna, Juliana and Mark; and six cherished great-grandchildren, Vicky, Samuel, Jessica, Leah, Mila and Vera. Funeral Services will be held on October 16, 2019, at 1:30 pm at the Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Ave in West Hartford. Interment will follow at the Emanuel Cemetery, 1361 Berlin turnpike in Wethersfield, (Intersection of Jordan Lane and Berlin Turnpike).
