Louisville-area seafood restaurant closing after two years
After two years of operation in New Albany, Indiana, Hull & High Water is shutting down.
Chef and owner Eric Morris announced the closure on the restaurant's Facebook page on Oct. 22.
"The rumors are true that we are unfortunately closing permanently," Morris wrote. "Starting today we will remain open both lunch and dinner until we run out of food and drinks. Thank you for your support these past couple years! We're gonna miss ya!"
Hull & High Water originally opened at 324 E. Main St. in New Albany in fall of 2017.
Morris said the restaurant had "lots of ups and downs" over the years, including personnel changes, issues with permits, personal issues of the owner and the impending struggle of winter. Much of Hull & High Water's seating is outdoors.

"It's better to give our staff time than have to abruptly close by taking such a heavy of loss of revenue when it's freezing outside," Morris wrote.
The restaurant, near to the Ohio River, served seafood items such as Po-boys, sandwiches and fish and chips platters. In a Courier-Journal review last year, Lindsey McClave described the restaurant's "waterside seafood shack" vibe, plentiful portions and energetic atmosphere.
The news follows the closure of Morris' other restaurant about a year ago. The Southern-inspired concept Gospel Bird, which opened in 2016 also in New Albany, shut down in November 2018.
