Authorities have made an arrest in Monday's shooting in the California neighborhood that left a teenager dead.

According to a release from the Louisville Metro Police Department, 18-year-old Brandon Briceno was taken into custody Tuesday evening and charged with murder in the death of 17-year-old Devin Swann.

Louisville Metro police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2200 block of Greenwood Avenue, near Victory Park, at 9:45 p.m. Monday, according to department spokesman Dwight Mitchell.

They found Swann with a gunshot wound, said deputy coroner Charles Edelen. He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital where he later died.

Briceno was part of 'an illicit gun sale' when the shooting occurred, according to police. He admitted to firing at three people who were running from the scene, hitting one in the back several times. That person later died.

Briceno told police that the third person also shot at him, but authorities haven't found evidence of that.

He was also charged Tuesday with first-degree assault in the shooting of a woman Monday afternoon near Hathaway and Henry avenues. Police say Briceno "admitted to his involvement" in the shooting and a witness also said Briceno was involved.
