A Kentucky man wanted by police for several years after he was allegedly married to two women at the same time has been arrested and charged with bigamy.

Johnnie Goodman Jr., 37, of Irvington, was arrested Aug. 17 by the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office and booked Tuesday into the Hardin County Detention Center on a bigamy charge, according to court records.

Bigamy is a class D felony in Kentucky, punishable by one to five years in prison.

Goodman is accused of marrying a woman in November 2008 and then marrying a Radcliff woman in March 2012, even though he had failed to divorce his first wife, according to an arrest warrant.

His first marriage would end in 2013, but Goodman allegedly married a third woman in March 2015 while still married to the Radcliff woman, according to the warrant, which was issued in 2015.

Goodman was released from jail in Hardin County on Tuesday after posting $1,000 bond, according to court records.

In a separate case, he was also arraigned Tuesday in Breckenridge District Court on charges of harassing communications and menacing that stem from August 2015, according to court records.

While it is unknown how many people have been charged with bigamy in Kentucky, United Press International reported in August 2008 that the first bigamy charges against a woman in the state's history were filed in Kenton County.

In the bigamy case, Goodman is scheduled to appear again in Hardin District Court on Sept. 27 for a preliminary hearing.
