One person has died after a small airplane crashed in Southern Indiana Saturday afternoon, according to the Indiana State Police.

The single-engine plane crashed in a bean field at 4444 Flint Ridge Road in New Washington, Indiana, around 3:23 p.m. Saturday, said Sgt. Carey Huls, an Indiana State Police spokesman. The Clark County Sheriff's Office first responded, and state police were called in around 4:46 p.m.

Huls said the plane was occupied by one person, who died as a result of the crash, which caused extensive damage to the plane.

The victim was later identified as Josh Warren, a Louisville man who was the band director at Fern Creek High School.
