STORYTELLERS

Louisville's storytellers have survived addiction and overseas adventures

Louisville Courier Journal

On Tuesday the Louisville Storytellers Project took to the stage to talk about memorable moments surrounding life and death.

It was a heavy topic, and our tellers had some powerful — and charming — stories to share while on stage at Play Louisville.

You can watch their stories in the video player above, as well as see photos from the night below.

More information about our tellers:

►Susan Berla, a hospice nurse who knows that it's not always about life and death, but about cheese and potatoes.

►Steven Michael Carr, the director of Development for Mattingly Edge, will tell about a friend and their happy hour adventures.

►Hannah Drake, an author, poet and spoken word artist, will put things into perspective.

►Krysta Manning, a dentist, reflects on the moment she shifted her priorities.

►Trevor Nourse has a story about what happens when you keep trying, despite darkness and loss.

►Ryan Van Velzer, an environmental reporter at WFPL, will talk about the time he almost lost his leg in Laos.

The Storytellers Project is a special evening of community-building in Louisville. Our journalists coach people to share entertaining, illuminating stories for diverse audiences.
