Louisville baseball is looking like a College World Series team

After picking up the sweep over No. 8 NC State over the weekend, rival Kentucky was hoping to kill No. 7 Louisville's momentum Tuesday at Kentucky Proud Park.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 5-1 lead through two innings and it looked like UK would avoid the season sweep to its rival.

That was short-lived.

The Cardinals would collect 23 hits to outscore the Cats 17-1 the rest of the game en route to an 18-6 win.

Despite early struggles to start the year, which U of L coach Dan McDonnell attributes to some injuries, the Cards have found some consistency in the lineups and have really hit their stride.

The pitching depth has been the strongest with Reid Detmers leading the way and getting contributions from Nick Bennett and Luke Smith, just to name a few. But it's the offense that has really stepped up, outscoring opponents 70-27 in Louisville's last six games.

The Cardinals still have four ACC series left on the schedule and in the driver's seat to clinch the Atlantic Division. But with the way they're playing, you could be talking about much more than just winning the ACC this year.
