Louisville football adds top kicker, former East Carolina commit to its 2020 class

Louisville’s strong recruiting week continued into Saturday evening, as the Cardinals picked up two more commitments for the class of 2020.

The first came from kicker Brock Travelston. Travelston was the No. 4 ranked kicker in the 2020 class according to Chrissailerkicking.com.

Less than an hour after Travelston announced his commitment, Duane Martin announced his intention to decommit from East Carolina and join the Cardinals.

Martin is listed on rivals.com as a three-star athlete.

Martin and Travelston pushed the Cardinals' 2020 class to 15 commitments and eight this week.

A Georgia native, Travelston is the first special teams commit in the class. Martin, a South Carolina native, is listed as a linebacker on 247sports, but can play on either side of the ball and is likely to play on offense for the Cardinals.

U of L has been very active during the NCAA’s June “quiet period” and as a result have seen its recruiting momentum only pick up.

After picking up three commitments on Saturday, three-star offensive tackle Timothy Lawson announced his commitment Sunday afternoon, the Cardinals jumped into a top-25 class ranking.

According to the 247sports database, the Cardinals have the No. 24 ranked class in 2020. Kentucky is ranked No. 31, but has just eight commitments compared to Louisville’s 15.

More may be on the way for Louisville, as it enters the final week of the “quiet period.” On June 24, the “dead period” begins, which will heavily restrict how much contact coaches can have with prospects.

In the meantime, Louisville is hoping it can continue the run it is on.
