Projected first-round playoff matchups for Louisville-area high school football teams

Friday night will mark the end of regular-season district play and give us the official first-round matchups for Kentucky’s high school football playoffs that will begin Nov. 8.

But why wait until then?

Here’s a look at how the Louisville-area districts are shaping up and a projection of the first-round playoff matchups.

Keep in mind that teams will play district opponents in the first two rounds of the playoffs.

Class A, District Two 

* Friday’s games: Campbellsville (6-2 overall, 2-0 district) at Holy Cross (6-2, 1-1); Fort Knox (2-6, 0-2) at Bethlehem (5-2, 1-1)

* Projected first-round games (seeds in parentheses): Fort Knox (4) at Campbellsville (1); Holy Cross (3) at Bethlehem (2)

Class A, District Three

* Friday’s games: Eminence (7-1, 2-0) at Kentucky Country Day (8-0, 2-0); Frankfort (2-6, 0-2) at Berea (6-2, 0-2)

Class 2A, District Five 

* Friday’s games: Owen County (2-6, 1-2) at Shawnee (0-7, 0-3); Gallatin County (1-7, 1-2) at Carroll County (5-3, 2-1)

* Projected first-round games (seeds in parentheses): Gallatin County (4) at Walton-Verona (1); Owen County (3) at Carroll County (2)
