Expect a rainy start to the holiday weekend along with much cooler temperatures.

After a week in which Louisville saw sunshine and temperatures twice hit 80, a storm system is forecast to move into the area overnight followed by a cold front, according to the National Weather Service

There will be scattered rain showers Friday with a high temperature in the low 50s, according to the weather service. Evening temperatures will dip into the high 30s.

Saturday, too, will remain "rather dreary," according to the weather service, with highs still in the 50s and rain in the forecast.

The weekend will end on a much warmer note, however, with mostly sunny skies Sunday and a high just above 70.
