Illinois woman drove impaired with 2 children in vehicle: Indiana State Police

GIBSON COUNTY, Ind. — A Crossville, Illinois, woman is facing felony charges after she allegedly drove under the influence of morphine with two children in the vehicle.

A trooper stopped Deana Hoffman, 48, on Indiana 64 near County Road 100 North for driving left of center, according to a news release from the Indiana State Police.

The trooper determined the woman was impaired, and upon further investigation, discovered she was under the influence of morphine, police said. Her two children, 15 and 4, were reportedly with her.

Hoffman was booked into Gibson County's jail at 12:10 a.m. Thursday, where she is being held on bond. She faces preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with passengers under 18 and neglect of a dependent, both Level 6 felonies.

The children were released to a family member.
