A dog owner has been found guilty of having a dangerously out of control dog that attacked and injured a woman.

Vinnie Roberts had denied the charge but was convicted and sentenced at Coventry Magistrates' Court.

The incident happened in April 2018 and saw the victim injured by a Staffordshire bull terrier called Ida.

Roberts, 26, of Charles Street, Hillfields, was fined £350 and ordered to pay £385.75 compensation, as well as £200 towards the court's costs.

Magistrates also ordered that Ida will be destroyed unless she is kept on a lead less then two metres in length and wearing a muzzle when in public and under the control of somebody not less than 16 years old.

Other cases heard at Coventry Magistrates' Court between May 31 and June 5 included:

Mark Jinks, 27, of no fixed address, admitted stealing police issue personal protective equipment and clothing, committing an offence while subject to a suspended sentence (possession of a zombie knife in a public place) and failing to answer bail.

He was sent to prison for 16 weeks (four weeks for new offences and 12 weeks imposed from suspended sentence) and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Warren Beswick, 31, of no fixed address, admitted breaching a restraining order.

He was sent to prison for 18 weeks due to order being recently imposed and previous convictions, and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Robbie Wallace, 41, of Blenheim Avenue, Holbrooks, admitted drink-driving in Walsgrave Road (breath 134, limit 35).

He was banned from driving for three years, given a community order including 200 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Fondatrim Mawarire, 27, of Stretton Avenue, Willenhall, admitted failing to provide a specimen and driving without insurance.

He was banned from driving for three years, given a community order including 140 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.
