A gunpoint robber who held up a Coventry bookies is set to be jailed today (Tuesday) - at the fifth time of asking.

Ian Chambers has admitted carrying out the robbery at the William Hill shop, in Far Gosford Street, at around 10.15am on June 28, 2018.

He threatened a member of staff before leaving with a quantity of cash taken from the till.

Chambers, 34, of no fixed address, was arrested two weeks after the raid and charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.

He pleaded guilty at Warwick Crown Court in August last year, but sentencing has been delayed four times.

The case was again listed for sentence on December 14 - which again didn't happen - and was then adjourned again in January.

Chambers will also learn his fate in relation to offences linked to a separate incident, including shoplifting, theft, possession of an offensive weapon and handing stolen goods.
