Coventry city centre will play host to a festive extravaganza this weekend, following on from last year's big success.

Food, drink and entertainment will fill the streets in and around Broadgate when the event returns, taking place on both Saturday (December 8) and Sunday (December 9).

It will see stalls set up selling snacks and mouthwatering menu items.

But the star attraction will be a vintage double decker bus, which has been transformed into a fully functioning bar.

Hosted by the Coventry Business Improvement District (BID), companies setting up shop across the weekend include sausage sellers Giggly Pig, Direct Ales, Original Chocolate Dream, The Heritage Cake Company, Beetle Juice, Raw Talent, Icandy, the Norfolk Duck Truck, The Mussel Pod and many more.

What's more, Coventry independent store MILK Vintage will also be holding a pop-up Christmas Jumper stall, along with KBN Reptiles who will be selling giftware, mugs and crystals.

Culture Coventry is also attending the event and Peekaboutique, which will be selling children’s clothes, personalised gifts and face painting.

This will all complement Coventry’s Christmas Village, which is being operated by Coventry company – Dhillons Brewery – and is open every day between midday and 9pm until December 23.

Live music at Coventry Festive Weekend

Live music will be on offer across the two days with the likes of Letitia George, The Upsiders, Steve Berry, the University of Warwick Brass, the City of Coventry Brass, Levi Washington, Thrill Collins, Matt Cattell, Impact Steel Band and Element Dance.

Street performers Balloonatic are set to hit the city centre as well and everyone will be bringing a festive flavour to get everyone in the mood for the holidays when they dress up as elves.

A vintage carousel will also be available in Broadgate for youngsters to enjoy over the two days.

The event will be hosted by Free Radio breakfast star Producer Paul, who was a smash hit with crowds last year.

Coventry BID director Trish Willetts said: “We introduced the Festive Weekend last year which was a massive success, attracting thousands of people.

“As the activities only happened over the weekend, everybody come out all at once to enjoy themselves.

“Now everyone knows what to expect, so for 2018 it is going to be bigger, better and incredibly festive.

“We have some brilliant performers coming along, but we also have so many exciting traders to make it a real treat for everyone.

“So the only thing to do is head down to Coventry city centre on December 8 and 9 and get into the festive spirit.”
