Two teenagers have been jailed for a knifepoint robbery in Coventry in a sword and a hammer were seized by police.

Joe Delaney, 18, and a 17-year-old boy - who cannot be named for legal reasons - admitted carrying out the robbery in Far Gosford Street on Wednesday, March 27.

They had robbed their victim, a man in his 20s, and stolen his phone and wallet at around 9pm.

Police were called and arrested Delaney, of Silverton Road, Foleshill, and the other teenager in Walsgrave Road, Stoke.

West Midlands Police confirmed that a Samurai sword, a kitchen knife and a hammer were all recovered.

Delaney and his accomplice were both charged with robbery and possession of a blade, which they admitted earlier this year.

They were both sentenced today at Warwick Crown Court to 32 months in prison.

The judge also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of a Samurai sword and a knife.
