A street food market famed for its mouth-watering and award-winning food is set to make Coventry a permanent home.

Digbeth Dining Club (DDC) has transformed the street food scene in Birmingham since it launched in 2012.

Now just over three years into their venture in Coventry, the bosses have decided to make the city a permanent base.

Up till now, people have been able to get their fill of the amazing food from the best street food vendors across the UK at special DDC events at Coventry Cathedral and more recently at FarGo's Box.

But now they will be opening every weekend right in the heart of the city.

The brains behind the family and dog-friendly event will be taking on two units at FarGo Village, in Far Gosford Street, to bring you their mouth-watering morsels.

When is DDC starting in Coventry?

The venture will officially open under the name of ‘FarGo Dining Club’ on Saturday, September 21.

You can then expect to find vendors filling stomachs every Saturday and Sunday until December 22.

FarGo Dining Club will feature two resident traders, who will be announced shortly, with a further four more added to the line-up on a weekly rotation inside the venue.

The opening weekend will feature a foodie's heaven line-up with the likes of Digbeth’s permanent resident Buddha Belly, soon-to-be-restaurateurs Low n’ Slow, as well as the multi award winning Baked in Brick and Flying Cows on the menu.

There will be an entry fee of £1 (under 12’s are free) and the event will run from 1pm to 11pm on Saturdays and 12 noon to 8pm on Sundays.

Are you excited for the arrival of Digbeth Dining Club at FarGo Village?

Founder and Director of Digbeth Dining Club, Jack Brabant, said: “We’ve been working in Coventry very successfully for just over three years now and whether its been at the Cathedral grounds, or inside FarGo Village itself, we’ve been attracting crowds of up to 3,000 local foodies every time.

"We think there is a real appetite for something a lot more regular in this city, and we can’t wait to bring quality street food to the people of Cov on a weekly basis."

Award-winning food, music and cocktails

Several DDC vendors have gone on to become award-winners such as Flying Cows, Baked in Brick and Buddha Belly.

Others, such as Original Patty Men and Indian Rasoi, have gone on to open their own city centre restaurants in Birmingham.

But the event isn't just about the food, with local DJ's and musicians set to keep the crowds entertained.

There will also be a fully stocked bar with cocktails and more on offer.

Jack added: “The team at FarGo share our ethos in having a genuine passion for celebrating independents, and we want to continue that into the new year by bringing as many people as possible into the area, to see what FarGo has to offer.

“We’re looking to work with local artists, DJ’s and musicians every week, and even get local brewers and now-neighbours, Twisted Barrel, on tap and in the fridges.”

Brian Harrabin, a Director of FarGo Village, said: "Its great news for the City and Fargo in particular that such a successful operator has decided to expand into Coventry and chosen FarGo as its base.

"We had a number of meetings with the team and I know they are keen to enhance the offer provided by our existing tenants.

"Furthermore it will be a great supplement to the investment we’ve recently made in ‘The Box’ as our multi purpose arts venue and also help us to drive the improving night time economy ahead of 2021."
