Damage fixed but delays continue
Although the damage causing train delays this evening has been fixed there are still delays.
Crash cleared
The crash on the A444 has been cleared but there are still some delays remaining around the hospital in Nuneaton.
Train station congestion
There’s a lot of congestion around Coventry train station this afternoon - which could be due to the delays on the rails passengers are facing.

There has been a crash in Nuneaton on the A444 which is causing delays in both directions. The crash is near to the island outside George Eliot hospital.
Train alterations
According to National Rail, the following alterations currently apply:
- Most long distance trains to and from London Euston will divert via Wolverhampton where possible
- Virgin Trains - A reduced service will run between Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston
- Virgin Trains - Trains between London Euston and Blackpool North have been suspended
- London Northwestern Railway - A reduced service will run between Crewe and Rugby
- West Midlands Railway / London Northwestern Railway - Services will not run between Rugeley Trent Valley and Hednesford
Problems on the railway
Several train services running through Coventry are delayed this afternoon due to damage to overhead wires.
National Rail says: “Damage to the overhead electric wires in the Rugeley Trent Valley area is resulting in fewer lines being available for trains to run on.
“We anticipate that disruption will continue until 16:00.”
Lane closure on M6
One lane is closed on the M6 southbound between J3A for the M6 Toll and J3 for Coventry and Nuneaton.
Traffic is reported to be coping well.
The lane closure is because of a broken-down vehicle.
Delays in Barford
Reports of slow traffic on the A429 northbound from Barford to J15 of the M40 (Longbridge Island).
Congestion in Warwick
The A425 Birmingham Road in Warwick is busy but moving between Wedgnock Lane (Warwick Cemetery) and Theatre Street (The Kings Head Inn).
Disruption on West Coast Mainline
Euesrton Station has issued a warning to say there is a risk of disruption to train services heading north, due to problems in Rugeley.
It is not clear whether services to Rugby and Coventry are being affected.
It's going to be a wet one
Coventry and Warwickshire is braced for a day of heavy rain, with nonstop showers forecast for over 12 hours.
After something of a hit and miss week for the weather, Friday started reasonably well enough, with an overcast morning and cool but pleasant temperatures.
But according to the Met Office, this is not set to last all day.
From 11am to midday, light rain is expected, which is only set to get worse into the afternoon.
