Nuneaton town centre's new bar and restaurant will be called Piero Lounge, it has been revealed.

The firm behind the Tarro Lounge in Hinckley are opening a new Loungers bar in Market Place.

Its name - Piero Lounge- has been revealed in a job advert for a head chef.

CoventryLive is aware that a planning application submitted to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council to transform the former Maplins electrical store into a cafe/restaurant has been given the go-ahead.

Now a head chef advert has appeared on line, it appears to be full-steam ahead for the new venue.

The advert says: 'Head chef - new opening. Piero - Nuneaton.'

It goes on to add: "Do you want to work for the fastest growing hospitality group? If so, Loungers is for you! We are open all day, every day and serve great quality food and drink in a welcoming, relaxed environment.

"We are currently recruiting for a talented Head Chef at this New Opening. This position is not for the faint hearted, Lounge is a fast paced place where no two days are same, as a Head Chef you will be leading the kitchen from the front and not afraid to get stuck in with your team. "

Are you looking forward to Loungers in Nuneaton?

The Loungers brand is the stablemate of the Cosy Club, which has bars in neighbouring Coventry and Birmingham.

And the firm previously said it had wanted to open in Nuneaton town centre for some time - but was waiting for the right venue.

In a marketing letter contained within the planning application it stated: “The clients have been considering options within the town centre for the last couple of years, effectively since Loungers secured their site in the adjoining town of Hinckley.”

The changes in store

The Maplins building, which was previously Topshop and Burtons, has stood empty since June 2018.

The existing shopfront will be removed and sliding folding windows will be installed with a new door that will be added at the back.

“The change of use would bring an empty unit back  into use, adding to the vibrancy and vitality of the primary shopping area," the planning application states, while adding that jobs would be created.

"Loungers Limited is a food and drink operator with a focus on the Continental-in-style café/bistro concept, creating an informal and neighbourhood food-led café/restaurant open all day, every day, where family, friends and local residents can meet, eat and drink in a relaxed and comfortable environment," the application explains.

"There are also a variety of board games available together with a daily newspaper to read and a free neighbourhood swap facility.

"The target client group results in an all-seater facility with the focus of operation on food. While there is a selection of beverages, including wine and beer, the sales data for other Lounges indicated that the split is in favour of food."

The Loungers concept

Loungers operates across two brands - Cosy Clubs, in cities, and Lounges in towns.

Loungers was founded in Bristol in 2002 by three friends who wanted to create a neighbourhood café-bar that they would want to go to.

That focus on hospitality, comfort and familiarity remains at the core of the company, driven by an independent culture and focus on the local community.

As of April 2019, there are 122 Lounges nationwide. Lounges are principally located in secondary suburban high streets and small town centres.

The sites are characterised by informal, unique interiors with an emphasis on a warm, comfortable atmosphere, often described as a “home from home”. Each Lounge is individually named and tailored to the site and local area, and the design of each one is continually evolving so that no two sites are the same.

Hinckley's Tarro Lounge opened in 2016 at the Crescent development and has been a hit ever since with its relaxed, family-friendly vibe.

Every Lounge offers all-day dining.

Brunch includes everything from chorizon and halloumi hash to big breakfasts and buttermilk pancakes.

Paninis, salads and burgers make up the more substantial offerings at lunch and dinner as well as mains like bang bang chicken, macaroni cheese with barbecue pulled pork and beef chilli.

When will it be open?

It us understood that the bar and restaurant would be open from 8am until 11.30pm Sunday to Wednesday and 8am until 12.30am Thursday to Saturday.

Coventry Live has contacted Loungers for a comment.
