These are the latest pictures from inside Coventry's new water park.

CoventryLive was given access to The Wave, which is still currently under construction.

However, all the slides are now in place, with the pool also looking great.

The pool is surrounded by changing LED mood lights too, offering swimmers an atmospheric splash.

It comes as part of the health and fitness aspect of the project, with more than 100 pieces of gym equipment - many of which are "digitally enhanced".

The main attraction of The Wave is, perhaps understandably, the water park where the slides have already been unveiled.

They include The Riptide, The Crestar, The Cascade, The Rapids, The Torrent and The Cyclone, with the last two said to be the most thrilling of them all.

Footage and pictures from inside show a closer look at the slides which are set to thrill.

So when will it open?

Earlier this year, a Coventry City Council spokesperson said: "It is anticipated that the day spa, 120 station fitness suite, dance studio, 25m pool and spinning studio will all be fully open to the public in the spring as part of a phased opening of The Wave.

"The water park element of The Wave will also open in the spring for a number of test events in readiness for a full public launch early in the summer 2019."

Though it will be home to a swimming pool, this is not the replacement pool for the Fairfax Street swimming baths.

That will be opening at a later date at the Alan Higgs Centre.

Everything that is on offer

The £36.7million water park, built on the former Spire House site in the city centre,  will boast a number of white-knuckle slides, as well as a wave pool, lazy river, spa and gym.

The Wave's website says The Rapids' ‘water-coaster’ is best ridden with a friend or family member.

Powerful jets hurl riders uphill before dropping them down through tight corners and tunnels - it’s a ‘Big Dipper’ on water.

The Riptide looks to thrill too, as people can grab a tyre and launch from one of the highest points of the water park.

The Torrent apparently has a thrill level of five out of five.

Riders must prepare to have the floor beneath them disappear and to be plunged straight down to ground level.

The Wave's website says this is only for the bravest of riders.

The Cyclone is one of The Wave’s fastest slides, sending riders whirling around an open bowl before dropping them in to the pool below! Guaranteed to get you in a spin.

The Crestar has two giant spheres that use lighting effects and other surprises to delight sliders as they journey towards the bottom.

The fully enclosed Cascade slide sweeps riders through large sections of coloured light. The Cascade is The Wave’s most colourful slide in more ways than one.

If you can't wait for The Wave to open later this year and want to get your trunks or swimming costume on as soon as possible, then the water park is looking for people to test the new slides.

People can apply to be one of the first to go on the water park version of a rollercoaster via  The Wave website.
