Tickets are set to go on general sale for Coventry City’s trip to Accrington Stanley next week.

The Sky Blue Army outnumbered the home fans at the Wham Stadium on their first competitive trip to Accrington for almost 60 years last season during both clubs' successful League Two promotion campaigns.

A total of 1,494 City fans made the 270-mile round trip to Lancashire where Stanley were backed by 1,334 home supporters, although their efforts were in vain as they left disappointed when Mark Robins ’s men failed to deliver the victory the supporters deserved for their efforts, losing 1-0 to a Sean McConville goal.

Interestingly, only two current City first teamers, Lee Burge and Jordan Willis , played in last season’s fixture, while Tom Davies, Jordan Shipley and goalkeeper Liam O’Brien were unused subs on the day.

The Sky Blues have been granted a full allocation of 2,045 tickets for this season’s game, which includes 1,470 standing tickets for the Coppice Terrace, 552 seats in the Whinney Hill Stand and six wheelchair spaces.

Around 500 have been sold so far from the opening priority sales period but tickets go on general sale to supporters from Wednesday (Feb 20) for the match on Saturday, March 2 at 3pm.

Supporters are able to purchase six per person.

Official coach travel is available for the game with the club’s travel partner EST for £25. For more information ccfctravel.co.uk to book.

Meanwhile, just over 700 tickets have been sold for City’s big away game against Luton Town this weekend.

The Sky Blues face the league leaders at Kenilworth Road on Sunday (Feb 24) with a midday kick-off due to the game being televised live on Sky Sports.

The travelling Coventry City fans outnumbered the home side at Accrington Stanley last season

The Sky Blue Army numbered 1,067 at last season’s glorious 3-0 away win against the Hatters with goals from Marc McNulty and stoppage time strikes from Duckens Nazon and Jordan Shipley.

This year’s allocation is slightly lower at 1,032, with fans able to buy two tickets per person.

They are on general sale for the all ticket fixture, which means tickets will not be available on the gate.

The club are offering coach travel at £15.

Looking further ahead, City’s Good Friday (April 19) fixture at home to Bradford City, originally scheduled to kick-off at 3pm, has been brought forward two hours to 1pm to assist Wasps and the Ricoh Arena with other events due to take place at the stadium that weekend.
