Coventry City progressed to the second round of the Carabao Cup with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Exeter City – and fans are feeling confident.

The Sky Blues’ class shone through against an inferior Exeter side as a brace from Jordy Hiwula, Matt Godden’s first City goal and a late finish from Amadou Bakayoko ensured that Mark Robins’ side eased through in comfortable fashion.

That set up a second round tie against Premier League Watford, pencilled in for later this month.

Here's what fans had to say after the win at St Andrew's:

Matt Godden scores to make it 2-0 and celebrates

@BlazeHome: Good win last night. Happy that we scored some goals and that three of our strikers opened their accounts for the season with Godden scoring what will hopefully be his first of many for the club. Now hopefully we can follow it up with 3 points in the league on Saturday.

@Chris1976Brook: I know we are all biased on our beloved @Coventry_City but seriously how are we looking? Is this a side that should win promotion? From highlights so far I am really confident.

@MarkMorrison94: Good win for the boys last night. Look like they are really coming together now. Impressed with Godden. Watford away in a couple of weeks it is then!

@Glenw1411: Genuinely feel that @MattyGodden24 is going to have a massive career with us. Natural goal scorer, driven and looks like he has a point to prove.

@SimonTodd2: I think in Matty Godden Robins has found us a striker who suits our style of play and can get us 20 goals this season.

Matt Godden scores to make it 2-0

@CallumMoseley3_: Class performance from the lads tonight. Whole team played well and can’t fault anyone but Dabo, Rose, Kelly, McCallum and Godden were standouts for me! Great to see Kastaneer get some game time too     onto the next one now!

@Essjayarr: Really positive having Hiwula, Baka and Godden scoring. Should give them a good boost for the next league game!

@OlilviaMoore00: Good win tonight for City, great to see Baka, Hiwula and Godden all scoring tonight too - plenty of competition upfront which is great. Pleased with Watford away too.@LGBTCCFC: Enjoyed tonight. Good to see @DomHyam_95 back and @MattyGodden24 score. @Sam_McCallum15 was excellent and great to see @_josheccles get time. Good result. Looking forward to the next round.

@Adam_Sloman: A thoroughly lovely evening at the football. Less so for my Exeter-supportint father in law, who came with me. Oops.

@LouisJones04: MOTM for me tonight was @FankDabo, showed his talent tonight and hopefully he can kick on from this. Special mention to @Sam_McCallum15 who was faultless. Onto Saturday.

@CCFCfan: Take the positives from tonight, through to the 2nd round and 4 goalscorers all strikers    hopefully this will carry on with some excellent league form to follow.
