Coventry City are stuck in a rut.

The Sky Blues have failed to win in six League One games and have lost the last three matches on the spin.

Injuries have started to bite with Jodi Jones, Amadou Bakayoko and Jordan Willis the latest casualties to enter the Coventry treatment room.

Boss Mark Robins would love to bolster his squad during the January transfer window but is unsure how much backing he will be given.

WHAT MARK ROBINS HAS SAID ABOUT THE JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW

“January is coming and we have got to see what we can do there because we certainly need to do something,” said the City boss.

“There’s a lot we need to do over a period of time to compete consistently at the top of the division.

“But, again, it’s just time and as a manager you need time.

“I find myself wishing my life away at the minute because I have got a good set of players who are learning. But we need some bits and pieces to help knit everything together.”

Asked if he’s expecting to have the finances available to strengthen in the forthcoming window, which opens on January 1, he said: “Possibly, possibly not, which is why we need that little bit of time to get there.

“There is a lot of plate spinning and there are things that need doing, clearly.

“What happens with us at the minute is that if there’s one injury the dynamic changes totally.”

WHAT THE FANS RECKON

We asked Sky Blues fans on social media who they would sign - from clubs below them in League One or League Two.

Here’s a selection of their responses:

Cameron Cairns: James Norwood - 17 goals in 23 games this season. That is red hot form and I think he really would cut it in League One. That should be our marquee signing in January. He could be cheap as well as his contract ends in the summer of 2019.

Steve Waterer: No player in their right mind will come here in January with the prospect of Being unemployed a few months later!!

David Warlow: I would go for Stockley def

Keith Tromans: We’ve got enough 2nd div players.

How will Coventry City get on at Shrewsbury Town?

1000+ VOTES SO FAR

Jack Ward: Stockley and Ajose proven goal scorer in both divisions.

Bernard Borras: Another stupid question

Liam Varney: John Akinde

Joel Harrison: Jayden Stockley

Pete Liggins: Mo Eisa from Bristol City... I know he’s in the Championship, but he’s not getting any games and would definitely help increase our pathetic goal scoring record!

Jayden Stockley

Craig Hurley: I’d think very carefully before spending 500k on Chaplin...

John Bryant: I know this won’t go down well but no need to sign as he’s still ours, bring Stuart Bevan back. He is perfect for this league and played a major role in taking Burton to the Championship. I’ll sit back and await the flack.

Ian Luckett: Why are we only interested in players from the same or lower levels? we have enough of those including loaning some out! Should we not be thinking about players with more higher level experience who can give us experience and maturity for the 2nd half of the season - even if we only get 6 months from them?

Should Michael Doyle start for Coventry City at Shrewsbury Town?

500+ VOTES SO FAR

Callum Moseley: Jayden Stockley or James Norwood.

Stephen Brind: Stockley from Exeter

Roland Payne: Any of the above, bar Beavon, but give Ponticelli a run in the team.

Rhys Morgan: Tom Eaves from Gillingham. League’s top scorer and out of contract in summer.

Paul Swift: Doidge at Forest Green. But probably too expensive for SISU to sign from such a big club. Wages would also be a stumbling block.
